Radiant Electric Wires New Buildings for Cedar Grove Elementary School

Radiant Electric recently wired two new ‘Frog’ buildings at Cedar Grove Elementary School in San Jose, a K-6 school serving 400 students in the Evergreen School District. Project Frog Buildings are a 21st century take on portable classrooms, and meet the most stringent green certification criteria, including LEED. Each of the two buildings have 12 classrooms and take about 10 weeks to assemble.

Radiant Electric, which specializes in educational remodeling, completed the $4.1 million electrical contracting project for the buildings with the assistance of 20 electricians from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 332, San Jose. In addition to the two ‘Frog’ classrooms, Radiant also wired a former ‘POD’ building that is used as a library, and also installed electrical infrastructure in a new portable kindergarten building.

Radiant Electric’s services included wiring the electrical infrastructure of the two Frog buildings as well as installing the Lutron lighting controls for the classrooms, offices, and corridors. Radiant Electric also installed underground power and communications utilities, emergency power inverters, and a new switch gear and service to the site.

In addition, Radiant Electric wired the photovoltaic solar system and connected the data center electrical room for each building.
