SCVNECA promotes its member contractors within the building and design industry, and also represents them in relations with labor, governmental entities, and local civic groups. We provide a community shared interests, and offer ongoing training and education, as well as other business benefits, such as insurance. At the Chapter-Local Union level, SCVNECA engages in collective bargaining and settlement of disputes.
Apprenticeship Training
SCVNECA jointly operates with IBEW Local 332 a Silicon Valley based 5-year electrical training program (National Joint Apprenticeship Training Program, NJATC) that combines optimal classroom instruction with on-the-job supervision.
Government Relations
SCVNECA represents contractors’ interest before local, state and federal governments and assists members with governmental relations issues.
Codes & Standards
SCVNECA provides representation on National Electrical Code Committees; recommends changes to codes; reviews licensing and inspection regulations and recommends changes when necessary.
Education
SCVNECA offers an ongoing series of management education programs to meet the needs of electrical contractors who want to have ongoing education on relevant industry issues.
Public Relations
SCVNECA publishes the Silicon Valley Wire, an eight page newsletter that is circulated to potential clients and decision makers within in the local building industry. The Wire, which is printed quarterly, promotes member contractors, as well as the Silicon Valley electrical industry as a whole.

Estimating
The NECA Manual of Labor Units provides the most reliable labor units available for NECA members to estimate labor costs accurately.
Safety
Safety is also a prime concern for NECA. It’s through Technical and Trained Services that NECA maintains a liaison relationship with the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, provides testimony and comment on the development of OSHA Safety and Health standards as well as on
the administration of OSHA law, and generally informs NECA members of developments and safety practices in the industry. NECA also helps develop the National Electrical Safety Code, concerning outside construction.
